On Sunday afternoon, 24 April 2016, about 20 Beijing food safety advocates came together for their regular No-GMO campaign activities.
They learned that Swiss NGO groups and individuals were going to launch demonstrations against Syngenta in Europe. The acvists organised a demonstration in response to the campaign in Switzerland and around the world, and also to protest ChemChina's massive use of public funds--the hard earned money of the people--to acquire Syngenta, which will harm the Chinese nation and humankind with GMO seeds and highly toxic agrochemicals. The activists marched with banners in front of the ChemChina Group headquarters in Beijing, and were warmly welcomed by many people raising their thumb with shouts of support.
The demonstrators included a woman with a crutch, who walked the complete route together with the group. The march also included a family of three--a mother and father with their young daughter. The characters on their T-shirts read: "No GMO, refuse to be laboratory mice" and their banners include the slogans, "Ban Glyphosate, Punish Monsanto!", "For People's Health, Ban GMO Food!", and "Chinese people refuse to be buried for Syngenta!".
Their banners also read: "Monsanto, get out of China!", "Mankind must end Monsanto and Syngenta before they end Mankind!", and "Using massive funds to acquire Syngenta is harming the people selling out China, deserves death!"
